Treat Yourself: Spa Day Edition!

No matter who you are, where you are in life, or what you might be looking to do next, this year is going to be the year of self-care (I’m proclaiming it online, so it must be true). With that being said, it’s time to treat yourself to all the things you’ve been letting fall to the wayside in the hustle and bustle of life – it’s time to give yourself an all-out spa day!

You don’t have to wait for Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day to be gifted a self-care spa day. Instead, give a little self-loving to yourself today and go do all the things you’ve been putting off for a while. Do you need to touch up your highlights? Has your back been bothering you in a way that can only be fixed with a deep tissue massage? Is there a new fancy restaurant in town that you’ve been wanting to try but have no time to visit? Today is a beautiful new day to give yourself the pampering you deserve!

Get Yourself a Mani and a Pedi

For the longest time, treating myself was about buying new clothes I needed or merch I had been wanting – now, however, when I think “treat yourself,” I want to take myself out for a nice spa day and get my nails done. A lot of my friends go to the nail salon regularly and pay to have cute nails done, and they look amazing! It always makes me just a little bit jealous.

If you’re like me and tend to do your nails at home rather than going to a technician so you can save a few bucks, here’s your sign to treat yourself to a nice mani / pedi. Maybe you like to keep it classic with just a red nail or French tip, or maybe you’re looking to have a fun design – whatever you like best, do something nice for yourself today and treat yourself to some cute nails.

Touch Up Your Hair

Treat Yourself: Spa Day Edition!Something I put off for a long time that really helped my confidence and state of mind was getting a new hairstyle. Even though you deserve to treat yourself to pampering and self-care regularly, it can be hard to spend money on yourself when there are other things that need to be done. That said, there is nothing that will help your confidence and inspire you to appreciate yourself more like a new hairdo.

For me, I’d been feeling a bit low and down in the dumps. And while a trip to the salon didn’t help all my problems, it did help me feel more inspired to take control of my life and treat myself with more care and compassion. If there’s a new hairstyle you’ve been wanting to try – or it’s simply time to touch up your current look – don’t hesitate to give yourself that pampering. You’ve earned it.

Find Your Signature Scent

Personally, I’ve been obsessed recently with the idea of finding a “signature scent,” a perfume that smells great and fits my personality. If you have also never had a signature perfume, then consider this “treat yourself” spa day as an opportunity to splurge just a little and buy a perfume that suits you and makes you feel refined and classy. We all want to live our Audrey Hepburn moment, so it’s okay to get a little extra sometimes and spend more on something that you’ve always wanted.

And while you may not know how to find a perfume that fits your personality, have no fear! There are lots of articles and videos online that offer perfumes with different aesthetics and ambiances. I told a friend – who really likes perfumes and knows way more than I ever will – that I wanted to smell like “books or the feeling you get when you’re inside a bookstore,” and she sent me a few options I could try out!

No matter how specific you want to be – or if you just want to find something that smells great to you – there’s going to be a perfume out there that fits all your signature scent needs!

Build a Spa Kit

Sometimes we don’t have the money to go all out on a “treat yourself” spa day, and that’s totally okay! You can still give yourself a little self-care and pampering without breaking the bank. Building a spa kit of your own – complete with face masks, bath bombs, and scented lotions that make your skin feel silky and soft – can be just as fulfilling as a day out and will still fit within your budget.

Treating yourself isn’t about spending money you don’t have – it’s just a time when you can show yourself that you care and are willing to take the time to fulfill your own personal needs. So, fill your bath at home with warm water and a bath bomb, grab a few candles and a nice book, and just take some time alone to relax and take care of yourself.

Time for a Massage

I’m going to be completely honest, I have never actually gotten a professional massage done myself. However, one of my coworkers goes regularly to help her relax and destress, and she swears by them so passionately that getting a massage has now found a place in my “treat yourself” to-do list. If you’re like me and have never experienced a massage – or if you just need some help working out the knots in your shoulders and back – then this is your sign to go schedule one today!

There are a lot of amazing health benefits that can come from getting a massage. Not only is it good for muscle relaxation, but it can also improve circulation, increase joint mobility and flexibility, and improve your skin tone. You’ll feel relaxed both in spirit and body and you’ll show yourself that you deserve to be pampered and cared for.

Go for the Nice Pajama Set

I don’t know what it is about nice pajama sets that just feel so classy, but there’s nothing quite as refined as a set of silk pajamas. While I am all about sleeping in t-shirts and sweatpants, I have been considering using a “treat yourself” day as an opportunity to get a new cute pair of pajamas (and you should, too!)

And while it may seem silly, silk pajamas actually have a lot of benefits outside of just looking great. Silk is a great material for sensitive skin because it holds fewer bacteria and dust mites inside the weaves. It’s also extra soft on your skin, making it incredibly comfortable to wear, which can improve overall sleep quality. Plus, silk pajamas really do just look super cute!

  2. All of these sound wonderful!! I always put myself last on the list before my family and I know I need to treat myself sometimes. A massage and mani/pedi would be great!
