MCA: Hi Worth Anne and Jordan, it’s so nice to be able to get the chance to speak with you both today! I’d first like to start the interview by congratulation you both on your multiple Mom Choice Awards! Can we start this interview by finding out a little bit of background about you both!

Worth Anne Herrell & Jordan Morrow, Cofounders of the MCA award-winning company, Oilogic!

Worth Anne Herrell & Jordan Morrow, Cofounders of the MCA award-winning company, Oilogic!

Worth Anne: Jordan and I are the founders of Oilogic and both live in Dallas, Texas. We both are mothers and wives and pretty much “do life” together. Our hobbies consist of raising our children, building our business, and growing our faith in the Lord. We have been friends for 20 years, have worked at 3 companies together, and I even introduced her to her husband!

MCA: 20 years of friendship, that’s very impressive! You both have worked at 3 companies together, what lead you to eventually create your own company?

Worth Anne: Jordan and I met each other shortly after college at an ad agency where we both worked. We became friends, and I introduced her to a friend of mine. They began dating and are now married with 3 kids. She left the ad agency to work for a small health and beauty company and when that company was looking to hire another “her”, she recommended me. So we ended up working together at that company for 7 years. While employed at the health and beauty company we learned how to build and scale a brand. We touched many facets of the business as we were a very small and nimble team. Over time and as the company grew, I eventually lead the brand management and marketing team and she led the product development department.

We both also had children around the same time in our lives and leaned on each other through the ups and downs of motherhood and life. My son suffered from constant ear and sinus infections and because he was so young there wasn’t much we could do to help soothe his symptoms besides a humidifier, a warm bath, and a vapor rub. I had learned about essential oils through my social networks as there were a few multi-level marketing companies who were employing other moms like us to sell their essential oils. I tried using Essential Oils for my son when he was sick and was very happy with the experience. It seemed to help him, and I felt good that I wasn’t using another antibiotic on him. However, I found the process of using the Essential Oils overwhelming. As a working mother with 2 small children, I didn’t have time to figure out all the work that was required to use Essential Oils safely and correctly.

At the same time, Jordan had also tried using Essential Oils for her family but with her product development background, she was less than pleased with all that was being asked of her as an end user. She knew that there was too much room for error, contamination, and lack of regulation around these powerful ingredients.

That is when we put our heads together and used our personal experience as Moms and our past professional experience in the Health & Beauty industry and decided we could make a line of products that allowed moms to use Essential Oils safely on their child.

MCA: That is so interesting, thank you for sharing! As the saying goes, two heads are better than one, and the fact that you both are best friends makes it all the more special! Slumber & Sleep 2-in-1 Vapor Bath & Shampoo and Stuffy Nose & Cough Vapor Bath are two of Oilogic’s products that have won Mom’s Choice Awards. Can you tell us the specific needs you were trying to fill when you created these products?

Worth Anne and Jordan: We wanted to give Mom a product that she could use to help solve an issue for her fussy child. Additionally, we wanted to create products that Mom could feel good about using to care for her child so natural and plant-based ingredients were a priority while harsh ingredients were prohibited. The Slumber & Sleep 2-in-1 Vapor Bath & Shampoo uses the natural power of Essential Oils and other plant-based ingredients to help relax and calm baby while soaking in the bath. It is the perfect bath product to use to start a nightly routine before bed. The Stuffy Nose & Cough Vapor Bath uses the natural Essential Oils to help soothe cough and cold symptoms when baby isn’t feeling well. The natural Essential Oils help open airways and calm coughing while baby soaks in the bathtub. The product gives Mom a way to help her baby’s symptoms when baby is too young for oral medications and nasal decongestants. Both products use the natural power of Essential Oils to help Mom care for her baby and are free from harsh ingredients including petroleum, phthalates, parabens, sulfates, gluten, DEA, dyes, mineral oil, artificial colors, synthetic fragrance.

MCA: Tell us about the research that went behind Oilogic Slumber & Sleep 2-in-1 Vapor Bath & Shampoo and Stuffy Nose & Cough Vapor Bath!

Worth Anne and Jordan: To develop both products, we leveraged our relationships in the health and beauty care industry. We consulted with experts in both the essential oils, baby and naturals industry to develop bath formulas that were effective at solving an issue, but also gentle and safe enough to use on babies. Once the formulas were developed, we tested on our own kids as well as anyone else who was willing to try it! Once we felt we had the formulas perfected, we wanted Moms to feel safe about using our products on their child, so we had both formulas Pediatrician and Dermatologist Tested.

MCA: As you stated previously, all of Oilogic’s products are made free of harsh ingredients including petroleum, phthalates, parabens, sulfates, gluten, dea, dyes, synthetic perfumes, artificial colors, and mineral oil. Why was it important to make all of your Oilogic products entirely from safe ingredients?

Worth Anne: Jordan and I wanted to make products that made Mom’s life easier. As Moms we are expected to be experts at everything and there is so much pressure to do everything perfectly. However, that is impossible and makes many moms feel like they are failing. For me, personally, I hated that I couldn’t help my child when he was sick and coughing all night. It pained me to hear him coughing as much as he did. The doctor’s answer was always more medication – steroids, antibiotics, etc. And although I didn’t consider myself interested in natural products, for the first time it mattered to me because I hated how much medication I was putting into my son’s little body. So when developing our products we wanted to make a solution for Mom that 1) Worked, 2) she didn’t have to worry about using on her child 3) was easy to find and affordable. All of three of these things makes Moms’ life easier and helps her take care of her child.

MCA: Tell us about some of the feedback have you received about your Oilogic products!

Worth Anne and Jordan: Both of these products have become staples in baby’s bathroom as they effectively and naturally help Mom with common baby troubles. We love when we read positive reviews about our products and how they have helped a family. We have seen several posts from our customers about our products go viral on Facebook and TikTok as Moms are desperate for real reviews from other Moms on items that work. That is why our newest brand slogan is Solutions for Baby. Lifesaver for Parents.

MCA: Tell us what is next for Oilogic!

Worth Anne and Jordan: Our biggest focus at Oilogic is telling as many moms as possible about our products and getting them in your local retail store. We are currently sold at Walmart, Buy Buy Baby, CVS, Amazon, and more and are working hard to get our products in more grocery stores and drug stores so that they are easily available when you need them most.

MCA: That is so exciting, we are so excited to be able to help you with that mission!
