Festive Holiday Cocktails

Simply having a wonderful Christmastime! Christmas is a time for fun and celebrations, for parties and dinners and special events with your coworkers, friends, and family. Christmas is also filled with festive songs, good music, and more holiday-themed schedules than you can keep track of. And with all of these events, it can get pretty difficult to think of new food and drink recipes that you can bring to each one.

If you’re struggling to find delicious and interesting party drink options, then have no fear! Here is a list of Mom’s Choice’s favorite festive holiday cocktails that are sure to be a hit at all your Christmas parties this year.

Candy Cane Shooters
  • Peppermint Vodka (3/4 ounce)
  • White Chocolate Liqueur (3/4 ounce)
  • Peppermint or Candy Canes

What to do:

  1. Crush up the candy canes and pour them onto a plate.
  2. Dip the rim of the shot glass in corn syrup and then roll it around the plate to coat it with the candy cane bits.
  3. Add the vodka and liqueur together in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake well.
  4. Pour into your shot glasses and serve!

Cranberry Moscow Mule (with rosemary-infused vodka)
  • Greygoose Vodka (2 cups)
  • Rosemary (3 sprigs)
  • Cranberry juice (1 1/2 ounces)
  • Lime juice (1/2 lime)
  • Ginger beer (3/4 cup)

What to do:

  1. To make the rosemary-infused vodka, add the rosemary sprigs and vodka together in a bottle, close it, and let it sit for 1-2 days.
  2. Add the ice, infused vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice, and ginger beer in a glass or copper mug.
  3. Garnish with a cinnamon stick, rosemary sprig, or lime wedge, and serve!

The Sintini
  • Tequila (2 ounces)
  • Cranberry juice (3 ounces)
  • Apple juice (3 ounces)

What to do:

  1. Add the tequila, juices, and ice together in a cocktail mixer and shake well.
  2. Pour the mixture into a margarita glass.
  3. Garnish with a cinnamon and serve!

Apple Cider Hot Toddy

Festive Holiday Cocktails

  • Apple Cider (4 cups)
  • 1 large sliced orange
  • Cranberries (1/2 cup)
  • Rosemary (3 sprigs)
  • Cinnamon sticks (2)
  • Fireball Whiskey (6 ounces)

What to do:

  1. Combine the apple cider, orange slices, cranberries, rosemary, and cinnamon sticks into a large pot. Bring it to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to low and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  2. Set out four glasses. In each glass, pour 1 1/2 ounces of Fireball. Add an orange slice and a few cranberries.
  3. Pour the hot apple cider mixture into the glass. Stir and serve hot.

Rum Walnut Alexander
  • Aged rum (2 ounces)
  • Walnut Liqueur
  • Heavy cream (1 ounce)
  • Demerara syrup (1/2 ounce)

What to do:

  1. For the demerara syrup, combine 1 cup of demerara sugar and 1 cup of water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool before transferring it into a glass bottle or jar.
  2. Add the ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake well.
  3. Strain with a fine wire strainer into a chilled cocktail glass.
  4. Garnish with nutmeg and serve!

Healthy Holiday Mocktail
  • Beyond Tangy Tangerine 2.0 (a multi-vitamin + mineral complex powder mixed with water) (1 cup)
  • Chopped mint
  • Sliced strawberries
  • Celery stock
  • Italian Parsley

What to do:

  1. Add the Beyond Tangy Tangerine 2.0 and mint to a glass and stir.
  2. Add the sliced strawberry to the rim and garnish with the celery stock (sticking up from the drink) and parsley.

Mistletoe Kiss

For the Rosemary Simple Syrup

  • Water (1/2 cup)
  • Granulated sugar (1/2 cup)
  • Rosemary (1 sprig)

For the Cocktail

  • Vodka (6 ounces)
  • Lemon juice (1 ounce)
  • Rosemary simple syrup (2 ounces)
  • Club soda
  • A handful of cranberries
  • Rosemary (2 sprigs)

What to do:

  1. To make the rosemary simple syrup, combine the water and syrup in a small saucepan and set to medium heat. Bring to a boil and stir occasionally. Boil for about 5 minutes and once the sugar is dissolved, take off the heat.
  2. Add in the sprigs of rosemary and let it sit for 15 minutes. Remove the rosemary, pour the syrup into a bottle, cool to room temperature, and refrigerate.
  3. For the drink, add the vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker along with ice. Shake well.
  4. Pour the drink mixture into two glasses filled with ice (don’t use the old ice from the shaker). Fill about 3/4 of the glass, leaving room to top with club soda and a few cranberries as garnish. Finish off with a sprig of rosemary.

Cranberry-Ginger Shrub
  • 1 bag of cranberries (16 ounces)
  • Cider vinegar (1 cup)
  • Water (1/2 cup)
  • Sugar (1/2 cup)
  • 1 piece of ginger (peeled and sliced)
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Club soda

What to do:

  1. Add the cranberries, vinegar, water, sugar, ginger, and cinnamon to a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes (the berries will begin to break down). Cool.
  3. Strain through a fine mesh strainer, using a spatula to mash the mixture and push out the liquid.
  4. Pour the drink into a glass over ice, leaving a little bit of room to top with club soda. Serve!

Christmas Old Fashioned

For the Maple Cardamom Syrup

  • Water (1/4 cup)
  • Pure maple syrup (1/2 cup)
  • Cinnamon stick (1)
  • Lightly crushed cardamom pods (1 tablespoon)

For the Old Fashioned

  • Bourbon (2 ounces)
  • Lemon juice (1 ounce)
  • Orange juice (1 ounce)
  • Maple cardamom syrup (1-3 tablespoons)
  • Bitters
  • Ginger beer
  • Orange zest and sugared cranberries

What to do:

  1. For the maple cardamom syrup, combine the water, maple syrup, cinnamon, and cardamom, and bring to a boil over high heat. Boil for 3 minutes, then remove from the heat and let cool.
  2. In a glass, add the bourbon, lemon juice, orange juice, 1-2 dashes of bitters, and 1-3 tablespoons of your cardamom syrup.
  3. Add ice and top with ginger beer. Garnish with cranberries and an orange slice.

Rudolph’s Tipsy Punch
  • Orange juice (2 cups)
  • Cranberry juice (3 cups)
  • Ginger ale / 7UP / Sprite (2 cups)
  • Vodka (1 1/2 cups)
  • Maraschino cherry juice (1/2 cup)
  • 1 large lemon (juiced, 1/4 cup)
  • Cranberries or maraschino cherries

What to do:

  1. Add all of the ingredients into a large pitcher or punch bowl. Stir.
  2. Serve over ice and garnish with cranberries or maraschino cherries. You can also add a rosemary sprig for an extra festive touch!

Bad Santa White Russian

For the Cinnamon Syrup

  • Water (1/2 cup)
  • Honey (1/4 cup)
  • Cinnamon sticks (2)
  • Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)

For the White Russian

  • Vodka (2 ounces)
  • Kahlua (2 ounces)
  • Espresso (1 ounce)
  • Cinnamon syrup (1-2 ounces)
  • Half and half (1-2 ounces)
  • Chocolate syrup (for the rim)

What to do:

  1. For the cinnamon syrup, combine the water, honey, and cinnamon, and bring to a boil over high heat. Boil for 3-5 minutes, then remove from the heat. Add the vanilla extract, stir, and let cool.
  2. Rim your glass with chocolate syrup.
  3. Fill the glass with ice and add in the vodka, Kahlua, espresso, and vanilla syrup. Stir well.
  4. Add in the half and half and stir to combine. Garnish with cinnamon.

Peach Bellini
  • 1 ripe peach (peeled and diced)
  • 8 raspberries
  • Water (1/2 cup)
  • Prosecco (1 bottle, chilled)

What to do:

  1. Add the peach, raspberries, and water to a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour the puree into a pitcher. Use a fine wire sieve when pouring to remove any seeds. You can use a spatula to push the puree through the sieve.
  3. Chill for an hour.
  4. Pour about 1-2 ounces of puree into a flute glass, then top with a little Prosecco and stir. Once the foam subsides, add more Prosecco (until you’re happy) and you’re ready to serve!
